The Head: MokuTi

The axe head is forged from MokuTi — the titanium interpretation of the ancient Japanese Mokume-Gane technique. Multiple titanium alloys are layered, forge-welded under extreme heat and pressure, then worked to reveal a flowing, organic grain pattern that runs through the full depth of the metal. The result is a surface that resembles flowing water, wood grain, or storm clouds — organic, hypnotic, and entirely unique to each piece. No two MokuTi axe heads will ever share the same pattern.

The Handle: Black Coated TC4 Titanium

TC4 (Ti-6Al-4V) is aerospace-grade titanium — the same alloy used in jet engines and surgical implants. It is exceptionally strong, lightweight, and corrosion-proof. The handle is finished with a black PVD coating that provides a tactical matte-black aesthetic, enhanced grip texture, and additional surface hardness. The contrast between the flowing MokuTi head and the blacked-out TC4 handle is visually striking and intentional.

The Craft

The axe head is forged by hand from raw MokuTi billet — shaped under the hammer, ground to final geometry, and polished to reveal the full depth of the layered pattern. The edge is precision-ground and hand-finished to a working sharpness. The TC4 handle is machined, textured for grip, and PVD-coated to a uniform matte black. Final assembly and fit are done by hand, with each piece inspected before numbering and release.
